Started about 24 months ago in the StrategicAngler® gallery in Charlotte, NC before I closed the shop for the (eventual) move to the Outerbanks. I started hand painting the koi silhouettes and branches before I put them in storage in preparation for the new shop renovation (which took over 8 months). The new shop was “complete enough” to work in this October and needed to get back to what I loved to do: painting some of my favorite patterns destined to be forever pieces.
Over a thousand individual dots (I’d like to know exactly how many there are honestly) make up all the cherry blossom flowers and buds. A light mist of pearlescent paints complement the pearl scales and only show up in certain angles. This year’s ‘aurora’ pattern influenced the decision to use those same colors of blue, yellow, purple and green to add depth to the pure white background. Signed with my personal signature and dated 2022. 42 hours total work and paint time, over 8 layers of epoxy.
This theme is called “Spring” – what you see pictured here is what you will get.
(There are future plans to create similar themes for Summer, Fall & Winter)
